We are excited for tomorrow night’s eSpokes Christmas Lights Tour. Have you decorated your bike yet? If not, we are sharing information about the lights we’ve purchased in hopes that you can find easy ways to decorate your bikes.
The light strands we are using are battery operated LED lights. (All of the items we purchased came from Target, but I’m sure WalMart and HomeDepot have something similar.) Most strands have between 18-20 lights and require 4 AA batteries. Some of the packages, including the color changing snowflake, come with an extra set of batteries.
The total lighted length is 7.4 feet and they all have an on/off switch. Depending on the package, the lights either twinkle, have a steady illuminations, or a combination of both. The Target brand strand of lights were priced at $8 and the Phillips strand of lights were priced at $6.99. The Phillips strand of 10 snowflake lights was $7.99 and the large color changing snowflake was $4.99.
One strand of lights can easily wrap around the top tube (the bar between the seat and the handle bars).
Once you’ve added lights have fun by adding garland and festive decorations. Remember to keep all decorations away from moving parts.
Your lighted bike is not only festive, but helps you be seen, too. Speaking of being seen, bring your head light for visibility. With your bike decorated and ready to go, also make sure to dress warmly with gloves and jackets and remember your helmets!
Can’t wait to see you and your stylin’ bike tomorrow night. Remember the best decorated bike wins a prize!
