It’s IRONMAN time in St. George! Everywhere we drive around town we see athelets on their bikes preparing for this special race. There are 2,600 athletes expected to compete, and many of those are professionals in the sport. The St. George race is a qualifying race for high circuits and the anticipations is in the air.
The IRONMAN website describes the St. George race as “An early-season race with breathtaking American Southwest scenery and fresh crips spring air.” It definitley feels like Spring and hopefully the beautiful weather will hold up for our visitors.
The 2015 IRONWMAN 70.3 North American Pro Championship features reigning world champions Mirinda Carfrae and Sebasitan Kienle and a host of contenders. (We had a gentlemen in our shop this week from Australia.)
This year’s winners earns and automatic bid to the World Championship held in Austria. Additionally, this race offers a $100,000 prize purse to male and female professionals which will be distributed amongst the firest through 10th place finishers.
Hopefully, while focusing on their training, visitors will be able to take in the sights and sounds of our town and see why we love Southern Utah’s Dixie.
